  • Must I be very strong to compete?
Not necessary! This is why we created this competition, just for you. So that we can take the pressure out of competing against our national champions. Come with the mindset of experiencing what a powerlifting meet is like, achieve a personal best and have fun!
  • I still have more questions. Who can I contact?
Drop us an email at saudi@powerliftingsingapore.com if you have any other questions!
  • What are the different categories?
Age Categories determined by birth year, with the exception of 14 years old which will be based on birth date Weight Categories Weigh-in is 2 hours before the first lift of your session and you must weigh the same or under the weight category you are in, but not below the lighter weight class. For example, if you are in the U63kg category, you must weigh in between 57.01 to 63.0 kg
  • I don’t know about the sport of Powerlifting at all. Where can I learn more?
In short, you will perform the maximum amount of weight for 1 repetition of each of the following lifts: Squat, Bench and Deadlift, according to competition standards. You will have 3 attempts for each lift. Click here for a very good video guide to the sport.
  • What equipment do I need to compete?
As Powerlifting Singapore is affiliated with the International Powerlifting Federation (IPF), we follow the same rules for competition attire and equipment. You will need minimally an IPF approved singlet. All other equipment like belt, wrist wraps and knee sleeves are optional but they must be IPF approved. Click on this link for the IPF approved list of equipment. All registered athletes will receive a discount code from our sponsor SBD Singapore to purchase equipment at a special rate.
  • I am keen to learn more about how to squat, bench and deadlift. Where can I get coaching?
We have qualified coaches that are conducting workshops leading up to the competition. You can go to this Beginner’s workshop page to find the workshop that is suitable for you
  • If I am a Novice participating in this event, can my results be used as a qualifying total for Nationals 2025?
Yes, you can! As a guide, you can refer to the following link for the Qualifying Total for 2024. Note that the qualifying total is subjected to change in 2025.
  • Since Powerlifting Singapore is a drug-tested federation, does it mean I would be tested if I participate in this meet?
There is a chance that you may be tested. However, there’s nothing to worry about if you have been practicing integrity while training to become stronger. If you are interested to learn more, you can go to At-a-Glance: Anti-Doping Overview - Anti-Doping Education and Learning (wada-ama.org) to learn more.
  • Why must I have a Powerlifting Singapore membership?
Powerlifting Singapore is an International Powerlifting Federation (IPF) affiliate, so that means we are a drug-tested federation, and we abide by the strict code of conduct for anti-doping. We do regular doping control test of our athletes, and these tests are costly. As we are a non-profit organization, all the membership fees collected are used to support our efforts to abide by the rules. Thank you for helping us keep our sport drug-free and fair.

Anyone who is new to powerlifting and has bever competed before is considered a Novice. We will require you to make a declaration during registration that you have never competed before and your registration may be forfeited if found otherwise.
